Common sense
is gnarly too.

Challenges are invitations, not instructions from a professional guide.

Your call

You are responsible for deciding whether a challenge is appropriate for you and your group. Consider your abilities, health, experience, accessibility needs, weather, daylight, location, equipment, transportation, local laws and rules, and current conditions.

Look after your people

Use appropriate supervision for children and anyone who needs support. Tell someone your plan for remote or higher-risk activities. Use qualified instructors and properly maintained equipment when an activity calls for them.

Know when to bail

Do not push through unsafe weather, water, traffic, injury, exhaustion or uncertainty. Turn around, ask for help or choose a different challenge. Challenge-specific safety notes are included with individual ideas, but they cannot account for every situation.
